Welcome
We are delighted to welcome you to Beacon Academy, a forward-thinking, inclusive and community-minded school with a sustained and established reputation for academic excellence, outstanding pastoral care and highly successful student development.
We understand that choosing a secondary school is one of the most important decisions you will make for your children and family. As the founding school of MARK Education Trust, we take pride in working in partnership with our parents and carers to ensure that the young people in our care flourish.
Set in the heart of Crowborough, Beacon Academy is a split site, rural, mixed 11-18 non-selective converter academy with approximately 1630 students, including over 250 students in our Sixth Form Centre at Green Lane. Beacon Academy draws students from over ten primary schools within our community area. We also attract students from Kent and from the independent sector. This generates our truly comprehensive intake, both in terms of ability and socio-economic background.
At Beacon Academy, we are ambitious for excellence in all we do. Our vision is to provide the best possible education for all our students and to remain an exceptional educational establishment locally and nationally. We are never complacent.
We were delighted to have our vision and support for our young people, along with our exceptional outcomes for all of our students, including our most disadvantaged and those with SEND, validated in an outstanding judgment in our latest Ofsted inspection in April 2024.
The exceptional relationships developed within our school community and our unwavering determination to ensure that every student succeeds are second to none, thanks to our loyal and dedicated team of staff. We have high standards and expectations, are ambitious for our students and know them well.
We pride ourselves on our inclusive learning culture and our rigorous and uncompromising focus on the child as a unique individual, enabling our students to make excellent progress and leave with the best set of qualifications possible, ready to make their MARK on the world.
Our broad, knowledge rich and ambitious curriculum, combined with a whole school approach to well-being and our commitment to provide diverse opportunities for enrichment ensure that everyone, including our most disadvantaged students and those with SEND, is nurtured to achieve their best. We are committed to developing happy, responsible, well-rounded young people, equipped with the knowledge, skills, confidence and self-belief to excel and succeed in our rapidly changing, highly competitive and exciting world.
We know that empowering our young people to be actively engaged in their learning is one of the most significant factors in their success. At Beacon, students are supported and encouraged to make their MARK academically by being motivated, articulate, resilient and knowledgeable, and socially by having excellent manners, being accepting, respectful and kind. These core values and expectations are reflected in the exceptional relationships that exist between our board of trustees, staff, students, parents, carers and the wider community.
We encourage you to attend our open events and see this for yourselves.
