Open Events and Induction
Transitioning from school to Sixth Form marks an important step towards gaining greater independence and preparing for the future.
Attend our open events
We understand that students and parents will have a lot of questions about the opportunities and support on offer at Beacon Academy Sixth Form. The best place to start is by visiting our autumn open events, where we invite you to explore our dedicated Sixth Form Centre and talk with our specialist subject leaders, members of the Sixth Form team and current students about the excellent range of courses and opportunities Beacon Academy offers post-16.
At our open event, you will have the opportunity to learn more about Sixth Form life, including the exceptional pastoral care and expert guidance that help our Sixth Form students develop into independent learners, ready to progress to top universities, higher apprenticeships, vocational training, or employment.
As part of our open events, we also provide taster sessions to help students to find out more about the courses they are interested in.

Sixth Form Induction
Our tailored transition programme from Year 11 to Year 12 ensures that our students are well-prepared for a successful start to Sixth Form.
Choosing the right course combination is vitally important. From Year 11 onwards, we provide personalised support to help students to research their options carefully and find their pathway. We take great care throughout this process to explore the best options for our students and we like to be as flexible as possible, to ensure a student’s individual programme is right for them.
Our induction day for all applicants, held at the end of the exam period in June, is designed to give students a taste of the courses they have chosen and to help them to find out more about Sixth Form life. Students may change their subject choices at any point in the application process, provided the combination of subjects fits within our curriculum blocks.
