Teacher Training and CPD
We are dedicated to developing world-class teaching and learning through research-based CPD and school-to-school support.
We are passionate about training the next generation of teachers and are delighted to be working with UCL Institute of Education in partnership with Sussex Coast Schools Alliance to provide professional development for Early Career Teachers.
We recruit, retain and develop exceptional staff and trustees to ensure that through every aspect of their experience of Beacon, our students are inspired, engaged and challenged, enabling them to make excellent progress and attain well. This includes our most disadvantaged and those with SEND.
We are delighted to present this short film focusing on the personal testimonials of MARK Education Trust teaching and support staff. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that contributed to the film and helped to provide some insight into what they love most about their role and the support and opportunities available to them.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
We value all our staff – teaching staff and support staff – and recognise that our students’ progress and achievements spring from the quality of the learning experiences which, together, our whole staff can offer. Our students’ development rests on our professional development.
For our teaching staff, we design a comprehensive programme of CPD opportunities based on our whole Academy Advancement Plan. Beacon is active in the development of teaching staff from initial teaching training, progress to middle leader roles, and through to headship preparation.
Leadership
Growing outstanding leaders is one of the best ways to help improve the whole school system. Through a range of in-house opportunities and leadership courses (including national professional qualifications and the prestigious Chartered Teacher programme), we provide support and training from middle leader right through to headteacher.
School Experience Programme
The best way to know whether teaching is the right career path for you is to come and experience it first-hand. Our school experience days provide the opportunity to spend a day at either one of our MARK Education Trust academies and gain insight into what a career in teaching may look like for you. You will have the chance to spend time in the classroom and speak to experienced staff including members of the Teacher Training and Development team, some Early Career Teachers and a member of the Senior Team.
The programme is open to anyone over the age of 18 who has a degree or is currently studying towards one.
