Attendance
How Attendance Can Impact Achievement and Attainment
Due to the strong partnership that exists between students, parents and staff at Beacon Academy, we have good rates of attendance. However, with your ongoing support we believe we can make further improvements.
Research by the Department for Education demonstrates that attendance plays a vital role in a student’s progress. At Beacon Academy individual attendance levels are monitored throughout the academic year, and regularly communicated to students, parents and staff. We provide this information in order to support families to improve attendance rates, and to illustrate how attendance can impact the future of our students.
Research proves that there is a direct link between a student’s attendance levels and their academic achievement.
Prospects
We endeavour to work with families to make sure that any problems or circumstances which may lead or be leading to poor attendance are given the right attention and appropriate support. In the rare cases where there is a justifiable reason for a student’s low attendance, it is expected that the parent/carer will engage and communicate proactively with us providing clear information and explaining the reason for the persistent absence. We have a range of flexible and supportive options available to our students with specific needs in order to help them attend and therefore not miss out on their education.
