Artworks by two Beacon Academy students were selected for a special exhibition curated by the Farley Arts Trust, celebrating and showcasing the creative achievements of young people across schools and colleges in East Sussex.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the awards and exhibition this year, the Farley Arts Trust draws inspiration from the artistic legacy created at Farley’s House in East Sussex, the home of Lee Miller and Roland Penrose, where many of the significant Surrealist and Modernist artists lived, worked, and visited.

Beacon Academy was delighted to enter students’ work for 2024 and GCSE student, Abi Peckham, and A Level student, Sviatoslav Latyk, had pieces selected for this year’s award and exhibition. On Friday 15 November, participating students and staff were invited to the biennial awards ceremony hosted by Farley Arts Trust Founding Trustee, Antony Penrose. We are extremely proud to announce that Abi won the GCSE Sculpture category with her piece, “Graveyards Rats Shadow Box”.

Miss Newbury, Head of Art at Beacon Academy, commented,

“Beacon Academy Art Department are enormously proud of both the students selected to take part in this year’s competition. Huge congratulations to Abi and Sviat for their outstanding contribution and hard work. This is truly a fantastic achievement for the students involved.”
