Health Service Schools Grant Success
Beacon Academy had a successful bid for East Sussex School Health Service’s Healthy Schools Grant in July, and we have used the funding to establish a Breakfast Club.
This intervention supports students’ health and well-being, giving them a great start to the day. Students invited to participate are selected against a set criteria and those involved in the project have been working with Miss Bell to furnish the room and select healthy breakfast options. Miss Bell is delighted to be taking the lead on this new initiative. During the day, the space will also be used for interventions, with upgraded sensory equipment enhancing the delivery of sensory circuits and offering students a wider range of activities.
After completing a Healthy Schools Check, focusing on PSHE, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH), and analysing insights from our students’ annual Healthy Schools Survey, we are thrilled to see these improvements as part of a sustainable, whole-school approach to health and well-being. Thank you again to the East Sussex School Health Service for making this possible!
