UKMT Team Mathematics Competition

On Tuesday 24 February, four Beacon Academy students travelled to Maidstone to take part in a regional final of the 2025 UKMT Team Mathematics competition.

Year 8 students, Amelia and Bertie, and Year 9 students, Isaac and Daniel joined eighteen other teams (including a team from Uplands Academy) to compete in a day of four challenging rounds. 

The group began the day working as a team on ten questions, and then worked as pairs to earn points for the rest of the day.  They battled through a cross-number (written by Mr Hall), a shuttle round and then finished with a relay race.

Our students enjoyed working collaborating with the other students, and while the questions were quite challenging, they all gave it their best, and were pleased to match their score with the team from Uplands Academy!

The students demonstrated brilliant teamwork, resilience and perseverance and most importantly, had fun!
