Sixth Form Wealden Cup
Well done to our amazing Sixth Form students who represented Beacon Academy in the Wealden Cup final!
The Wealden Cup is a challenging, multidisciplinary competition that gives post-16 students opportunities to showcase their skills and enjoy a well-deserved break from the rigour of mock exams and university applications. Our students enjoyed competing in netball and football tournaments hosted by Uckfield College.
Mr Hutchison reports:
“Our netball team drew 18-18 after a dramatic and controversial last second leveller for the hosts. The match ebbed and flowed with the lead changing hands several times throughout the course of the pulsating tie, which resulted in the trophy being shared between the schools.
Meanwhile our 7-a-side footballers finished as runners-up in the tri-series Wealden Cup tournament with Uckfield and Hailsham. Beacon lost the opener 1-0 to the hosts despite a dominant performance and this result ultimately decided top spot. Beacon comprehensively thumped Hailsham 3-0 before drawing 0-0 with Uckfield in their second head-to-head. Beacon finished proceedings with a 1-0 victory in match 2 versus Hailsham to finish in second spot after Uckfield also did the double over Hailsham."
"There were some inspiring performances across both teams. Our students were an absolute credit and most importantly thoroughly enjoyed themselves."
Well done, Team Beacon, for your hard work, determination, and teamwork!
